Dear Dot & Bill:
Just a few lines to thank you for the card I received the other day for my birthday. I received quite a few from a lot of different people and it was very thoughtful of them all. I’m fine and hope you were all the same back at home. Right at the present time it is raining very hard and the weather was about the same the past two or three days. I am afraid that the rainy season is upon us over here in Korea and it looks like it is going to stay for a while. This time last year when we were over here, it was raining almost all the time and it didn’t stop until the end of the month.
I hope the weather isn’t as bad in Japan because my orders have come down for 15 day leave in Tokyo, Japan. We are planning on spending about 3 or 4 days in Tokyo and the rest in a special service hotel up in Numazu. This place is about a four hour train ride from Tokyo and from what some fellows say that have been there, it sounds like a real nice place. They have a large beach , boating, fishing, all kinds of sports, good places to stay, good food, and plenty of other things to do.
We are supposed to leave here on the 2nd of July, so I hope that we will be in Tokyo by the 4th. Since we are not on R&R, we have to provide our own transportation. That is done by going to the airports around here and in Seoul and getting hops. From what I understand, there doesn’t seem to be very much trouble in securing one.
Well, it’s almost time for Chow so I will close this letter for now. But thanks again for sending the card. Give my regards to everyone.
Love
Eddie
